It is rare to say that a man from my home city of Norwich deserves a 'Style Icon' status. Not to say that Norwich/Norfolk isn't stylish, but it's not exactly a place that's known for fashion. Due to this, I am proud to present Jim Chapman as the newest addition to my 'Style Icon' series. Jim is a 26 year old, YouTube sensation with 1.3 million subscribers—which is significantly more than the entire population of Norfolk—and he is a man that probably feels like he is living in a dream at the moment.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is personally one of my favourite actors, and definitely one of the best style icons around. Few people manage to make a style like his look so effortless and down to earth, I am greatly envious of this ability. Style Icon - James Dean

Every man should know James Dean. There isn't a single style icon that could come close to the level of this man, not even Elvis or Ralph Lauren himself. He is the biggest influence on menswear that there has been in recent history. Why? Because he made blue-collar cool.

Okay, he may have had some help from Marlon Brando in 'A Streetcar Named Desire', but Dean was definitely the major player in making a white t-shirt and jeans acceptable for men all-over. The main cause of this was 'Rebel Without a Cause', with Dean pictured below in a red windbreaker, white t-shirt and jeans. He became a legend and a style icon straight from the opening credits.

Style Icon - Ryan Gosling

I've added a new section under fashion on my blog, and this is the style icon section. What it comes down to is that we all have celebrities that we know have a great style, and I'm going to do the typical thing of breaking down their outfits and find the most affordable way to imitate their style.

To start with, I will use one of my own favourite style icons at the moment, and that is Ryan Gosling (above). His style isn't complicated, it's just well put together and thought through so it's a good start.
