Wallet Friendly Watches

As stated in my 2014 wish list post, I would love to get a new watch this year, and if possible I'd like to get one soon. However, like many of my fellow students, I don't have a huge amount of money; furthermore, of of the money I have available, not much of it can really go toward buying a watch. If anything, food is slightly more important. But this won't stop me from looking and it probably won't stop me buying one if I like it enough (I'm bad like that).

Due to my problem I have decided to put together a post comprising watches under £60 that I consider to be worth buying. Naturally, these may not be to your taste, but you'll probably accept that for under £60, they're pretty awesome. I'm going to attempt to not bore you with bog-standard watches that you can get and so these will have a theme of being dark/black watches. I might sweeten the pot with a more expensive, but beautiful wildcard at the end. So, in ascending price order...

MVMT is a new brand of watches that is affordable, reliable and stylish. There's nothing overly fancy about them, they are just nice watches that work; the creator, Jake Kassan, knows this and so he won't charge you a huge amount on mark-up for them. So instead of paying a huge amount for a watch, these are just $59 each (£38.50 or £46.30 with international delivery) and it's as simple as that.

Here's the MVMT campaign video from Indiegogo to explain...

Which Watch Would You Want?

Thursday, 25 July 2013

I absolutely adore watches, after all, there are very few accessories that can add as much to an outfit as a watch can. Although make sure you don't take lessons from Leonardo DiCaprio when it comes to how to wear your watch, the man clearly has no idea. I'm sure it made for a very awkward photo shoot...

Anyway, back to the point...

I have to admit that I'm not even a huge fan of the big watch companies such as Tag Heuer and Rolex. Don't get me wrong, both companies have their beautiful watches, but I bet I could find something more stylish and for a hell of a lot less (and when I say a hell of a lot, I'm talking thousands of pounds less). This isn't easy for me either, I'm incredibly fussy about watches. A watch is like a great pair of shoes, pick right and it could last you years.

Genuinely though, what's the point in spending thousands of pounds on a watch that isn't going to add anything to your outfit or style? A watch should be an extension of your personality, not an extension of your wallet.

Here's what I've picked...
