Two Straps and a Relieved Back*

Wednesday, 14 May 2014

Throughout my years, I have always been an avid supporter of the messenger bag; this is to the extent that I don't think I have actually owned the regular two-strapped bag since when they were bigger than I was. However I have been sent the 'Floid' bag by the kind people at Eastpak and Size?, and I couldn't imagine a better time to give a turtle shell a try.

Practicality wise, this little beauty has it all figured out. It manages to fit far more into it than I had first expected and no matter how heavy I make it, my back never seems to hurt. The bottom-front pocket somehow fits every cable I own (every important cable that is), whilst the main pocket houses everything else easily, including a padded section for my laptop.

Not long ago, I would have probably said about the fashion element of a backpack as opposed to a satchel, and I would still agree that the latter has the sartorial victory. On the other hand, I will give back-up to the backpack and say that the practicality has to outweigh the minor drop in style. I have to say I was happy to go for the corout blue colour to compliment the majority of my wardrobe.

The only drawback I have found is something I had never anticipated: It turns out that my love for the classic satchel has been the only thing that has protected my arse from getting wet whilst cycling. It's safe to say that continuing to use this bag will result in the investment of a rear mudguard. Apart from this I am now hooked on backpacks and would recommend Eastpak to anyone, especially the Floid.

Anyway, here are some images of my outfit, including the bag. I've been traveling/driving all day so I went rather casual today:

Jumper - Boohoo Man

Sunglasses - RayBan

What would you rather, a satchel or a backpack?

Cheers guys,

O&U.
