adidas Originals Hamburg x Scotts

Monday, 8 February 2016

adidas Originals have become seasoned pros at revitalising archived styles, with the Hamburg being one of the greatest. Originally released in 1982, decommissioned in 1986, and re-released in 2014, the Hamburg style perfectly captures the rough beauty of Hamburg as a city, whilst being exemplar of the trainers of the '80s. Sadly, I grew up in the horrendous trainer decade that was the '90s (in my opinion), hence why I love the resuscitation of such styles that I missed out on.

In celebration of the Hamburg (the trainer), the menswear retailer, Scotts, flew over to Hamburg (the city) with Soho Warriors FC to create a collection of images and a short film. The images are beautifully composed to compliment the unique film, combining to show how these trainers are as ideal for a city stroll as they are for their original intention of training.

As a style, the Hamburg is understated and classic; as a city, Hamburg is definitely somewhere I wish to visit. If, like me, you want to explore the city whilst wearing a pair of trainers named after it, take a look at the Facebook page of Scotts Menswear, where they are giving away a trip to Hamburg for two and two pairs of trainers. Honestly, I shouldn't tell you as it will decrease my chances of winning, but I'm feeling nice.
