GANT Diamond G Chambray Shirt

Monday, 25 April 2016

When it comes to shirts, I'm a fairly picky man. Everything about the shirt has to be right for me to really love it, from the fit to the feel, and even including the location and how obvious the logo is. Saying that, this is one of those times when I simply cannot fault a product. The chambray fitted shirt from GANT's Diamond G collection pretty much hits the nail on the head in all aspects of my check list, moving it quickly from a shirt I like to a shirt I love.

A good chambray shirt can see you through many seasons, which is exactly why I wouldn't mind the £135 price tag on this one. If it's done well, it's worth the investment. Now we all know that GANT is synonymous with quality, however the Diamond G collection really does manage to go above and beyond. The focus on the material (a luxe Italian cotton-linen blend) and the detail that has gone into it is evident the moment you put it on.

The outfit I ended up wearing the shirt in was specifically chosen to see how versatile the shirt really is. With the button down collar and mother-of-pearl buttons, it will work seamlessly within a smart casual outfit, so I wanted to dress it down even more. Somehow a khaki green t-shirt worked underneath, alongside the denim and Red Wings. It's not too far of my usual outfit, I know, I'm the first to admit that I tend to stick to what I know at the moment. But the open shirt was definitely a step out of my zone and the colour mix really could have clashed, however the ever-versatile chambray wins again.

Everything about it just works, from the colour and fit, mentioned above, to the fact that the subtle Diamond G logo is on the sleeve placket instead of the chest pocket. It's easy to use the phrase of "You're paying for the brand" these days, but with this, you are definitely paying for the quality and the quality they give is worth the money.

Now, here's an awesome shot of my Red Wings with my jeans to justify the fact that I'm always wearing them...

*GANT kindly let me pick a shirt from any of their collections to review. This, as always, hasn't changed my opinions in any way.
