Two months is a long time to pause writing on a blog, I understand that. It wasn't the easiest decision to make, I stopped writing around the time that it was all I wanted to do, however I am happy I bit the proverbial bullet. Now I am back, and I truly hope that you consider this to be a positive thing. Since my last post, I have started a new job, moved to London, and basically achieved a goal I set out for myself earlier this year. This took concentration on things other than the blog, sadly.
Of course, I didn't want to start up again with any old post, and luckily for me I was contacted by the one, and only, Original Breton Shirt Co. A few years ago, I wrote a post on how to capture the style of James Dean using a Breton top from them, so it seems fitting to bring it back into the fold, this time wearing one of their tops myself. I understand that I don't look quite as suave as James Dean.

You know me, I'm a stickler for quality. It's the first thing I inspect in a new item of clothing, or anything for that matter. If it's high quality, it's going to last. I'm fairly fed up of replacing clothes because I didn't spend enough money, in turn spending more money. In terms of this top (the Submariner, to be precise), I can't praise the quality enough, and although I haven't been able to give this the test of time quite yet, I anticipate that this top will be worn for years to come (I'll let you know if that changes). Being made from 300gsm cotton gives it a heavier feel and the knowledge that it will take a beating.
The top itself is part of The Original Breton Shirt Company's own brand, Club de Mer. I have to say that it's a particularly fitting name as it translates to "Sea Club", and everything is so beautifully nautical. Obviously, I did not get these photographs in a nautical setting... you could either call this a tactical move to depict how the top is transitional and suitable to any setting, or it could be to do with not having any water nearby since moving away from Southampton. But for the sake of seeming prepared, we shall go with the former, not the latter.
As you can see, styling up a top like this is not a challenge in the slightest, which I have to say is a monumental positive. I have stated on a few occasions that I like to have a wardrobe that allows little thought in the morning, especially since I can now wear casual clothes to work, and due to the fact that I tend to get dressed before my coffee in the morning, and my brain tends not to work too well until after said coffee. Pairing it with the Red Wing Iron Rangers, Edwin jeans and my Hawksmill worker jacket was an obvious choice.
If you're looking for a new top for Autumn/Winter, something nautical or just fancy succumbing to the urge to treat yo' self, you may have found your next purchase. For £48.95, it is definitely worth the spend.
